A Dream 35 Years in the Making
“Dreaming of a Better Place” is a short documentary from Cannes YDA nominated director Cameron Thuman. Created in partnership with USCAPE Apparel and supported by HeliCat Canada and Destination British Columbia, “Dreaming of a Better Place” tells the heartfelt tale of Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge, as the family finds solace in the spirit of the mountains after an unexpected tragedy changes their dream forever.
SHORT FILM
“Dreaming of a Better Place” held its world premiere at Whistler Film Festival, followed by screenings across Canada, United States, and Europe. Amidst is festival world tour, “Dreaming of a Better Place” released online in March 2023 with Teton Gravity Research.
Blending folklore storytelling and breathtaking action, “Dreaming of a Better Place” defines a surrealistic style of filmmaking never seen before in the ski film genre.

Recorded in Berlin’s historic Funkhaus Cathedral, “Dreaming of a Better Place” features an original soundtrack by German artist and composer Liam Mour, in partnership with Sony Music Europe.
The original soundtrack will release on Spotify and Apple Music in March 2023.

“Dreaming of a Better Place” stars Canadian freeskiing icon Mark Abma, best known for his 20+ year career starring in cult-classic ski films such as "Superheroes of Stoke,” “In Deep,” “Session 51,” and beyond.
